Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (22) ordered the Bellanwila Veterinarian to conduct the post-mortem examination of the four turtles that died on the Galle Face beach and submit a report to Court regarding the cause of death.
The Magistrate also ordered the Wildlife Conservation Department to bury the bodies of the animals after completing the investigations.
The Magistrate made this order after considering the request made by Wildlife official Saman Liyangama, by filing a motion. The officer informed Court about the death of turtles near Galle Face and nearby seashores said that he had received information that there are turtle carcasses in Wellawatte and Dehiwala sea shores and that other turtle carcasses are floating in the sea.
