Some of the locally manufactured novel industrial products during the COVID Pandemic era have now been accepted and associated with the world’s leading brands, said Minister of Plantation Industrial Dr. Ramesh Pathirana. These included many previously non-manufactured devices in Sri Lanka.
The Minister opined this during the “Industry 2023 Kandy Edition” jointly organized by the Ministry of Industries, Ceylon Industrial Development Board, Central Provinces Governor’s Office and Ministry of Industries of the Central Province which
“We must congratulate the local entrepreneurs for coming forward and doing R&D and manufacturing new devices to generate an unexpected export income like this. This is a great economic victory for Sri Lanka. These local industrialists continued their manufacturing and today their products have entered the world market and are bringing the much needed dollars to Sri Lanka.”
These novel manufactured products included automobile materials, electronics, food technology and products related to packaging, bathroom accessories, hard tires etc.
“If Sri Lankans can manufacture novel items of this nature during difficult times, today with a better economic landscape they can be improved. It will firstly help as an import substation and secondly help to increase exports.”
Industries can be used for empowering an export-oriented manufacturing economy in the country.
