Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB ), National Organiser Tissa Attanayaka said the on-going digital classroom distribution programme to schools islandwide will be continued without any interruption until all schools get digital equipment.
Referring to a statement made by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa at a meeting held at President’s College, Matugama, Kalutara, Attanayaka said Sajith Premadasa’s name will be highlighted in the Sri Lankan political history one day as the only Opposition Leader that distributed digital classrooms and free buses to needy schools and also medicine and medical equipment to hospitals in need, while being in the Opposition.
He said children are the backbone in the country’s economy and therefore the SJB’s only intention is to develop both the children’s education and their other inborn talents.
Attanayaka further said the SJB took this decision of providing digital class rooms to schools with smart boards, computers etc following a careful study of certain schools, observing that they have never got or seen digital equipment.
He also said the SJB has so far provided valuable digital equipment including smart boards and computers to 195 schools countrywide and will continue this programme until all needy schoolchildren in the country receive this benefit for their future studies.
He said that, in addition the Opposition Leader has also decided to establish English learning centres in villages since statistics have revealed that large numbers of children are now focusing attention towards learning English and IT.
He said that knowledge of these two subjects would immensely help them to secure both local and foreign employment opportunities. Attanayaka also said the SJB has so far donated over 100 buses to schools countrywide.
