A motion to appoint a Select Committee of Parliament (PSC) to investigate into the matters relating to the Election Commission in respect of the incidents of infringement of privileges of the Members of Parliament and to make suitable recommendations in that regard is to be submitted to Parliament today.
This decision has been taken at the Parliamentary Affairs Committee meeting held yesterday (17) under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena. The proposal to appoint the Parliamentary Select Committee is scheduled to be tabled today and the Parliamentary Affairs Committee agreed to hold a debate on another day.
