In celebration of the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka (1970-2025), the Viet Nam Embassy in Colombo, together with the Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Ministry is organising a Quiz Competition and a Logo Design Competition.
The launching ceremony for the two competitions took place at the Chancery of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Colombo yesterday (3), with the attendance of the VietNam’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Trinh Thi Tam; Director, Southeast Asia and Central Asia Division of the Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Ministry Thilini Ihalage; Chief Editor Colombo Times, Mohammed Rasooldeen; the Secretary General of the
Sri Lanka – VietNam Solidarity Association, S. Sudasinghe; the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, G. Weerasinghe and the Head of the Viet Nam community in Sri Lanka, Nguyen My Trinh.
Ambassador Trinh Thi Tam emphasised the aims of the competitions are to raise the awareness of the traditional friendship and enhance the people-to-people ties between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka. The Ambassador extended a warm invitation to all Sri Lanka citizens in and out of the country to participate in the competitions. Director Thilini Ihalage praised the deep-rooted traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka, built upon mutual respect and understanding.
Colombo Times’ senior journalist Mohammed Rasooldeen appreciated the opportunity for the Colombo Times to co-sponsor the competitions while reassuring their support and assistance to the Viet Nam Embassy in all future activities. Over three million worldwide viewers of the Colombo Times website will certainly bring more value and participants to the competitions.
According to the Embassy, the Quiz Competition will run for six months, from January 5 to June 20 and the Logo Design Competition will be held over three months, from March 1 to May 31. An award ceremony for the two competitions will be held in July 2025, coinciding with the 55th anniversary celebrations of VietNam – Sri Lanka Diplomatic Relations.
As for the Quiz, the Colombo Times website will post a quiz frame consisting of four multiple-choice questions about the bilateral ties between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka as well as a question about the quizzers’ estimation of the number of participants. Viewers can provide answers by clicking the answer button on the quiz frame. Questions will be posted on the Colombo Times website on the 5th of each month, with responses due by the 20th of the same month, and the results of each round will be released on the following month. A winner will be selected each month and three final winners will be selected at the end of the competition for awards.
