Sajith Premadasa and Ranil Wickremesinghe have already accepted their defeat and are now trying to spread to the public, false fear about the future of the country and the people, said National People’s Power (NPP) Presidential Candidate Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Addressing a public rally held in Elpitiya on Tuesday (03), he stated, “NPP embarked on this Presidential Election journey with meticulous planning. When people saw our results of the last Presidential Election, no one could have imagined that we would win this time. However, step by step, we have reached the point of victory. Similarly, we are developing this country step by step.”
“Today, the public is facing the consequences of the irresponsible actions of previous rulers. In June, Ranil said that State workers’ salaries could not be increased, as it would collapse the economy. Now, he is claiming that from January onwards, a Rs. 25,000 allowance will be given and salaries will be increased.
Whenever an election comes, everyone makes these false promises and tries to give small allowances to the people. However, we have a strong public power that such small allowances cannot sway.”
Now there are discussions between the second tiers of Ranil’s camp and Sajith’s camp for a team-up to keep the NPP at bay, claiming that, ‘If we stay divided neither of our Parties will win’.
However, the NPP has a strong election campaign that is driven by the public. We have received widespread support from the people from every corner of the country. They assure our victory.
