Ranil Wickremesinghe the only leader who can take the country forward – Lanza

Gampaha District Parliamentarian Nimal Lanza yesterday said that the country cannot be developed by giving false promises to the people. Joining the ‘Read Ranil’ campaign at Galle Face on Sunday, the Parliamentarian said the upcoming Presidential Election is crucial at a time when the country is facing an unprecedented economic crisis.

“Arrangements are being made to deliver the election manifesto of President Ranil Wickremesinghe to every doorstep in 160 electorates in the 24 districts and every family in the country can read President Wickremesinghe’s election manifesto which is aimed at rebuilding the country,” he said.

He said that President Wickremesinghe is the only leader who had the confidence to take up the challenge of rebuilding the country and he had showed the entire world his capability in rebuilding the country battered by an economic crisis.

“We cannot allow any person to bring down the economy. President Wickremesinghe stabilised the economy and he is the only leader in the country who can carry the country forward while strengthening the economy,” he said.

Lanza said that there is no candidate who can match President Wickremesinghe in the election fray. “He has extensive experience in politics and international relations.”

The Parliamentarian added that the people of this country are prepared to pay gratitude to the President for accepting the challenge of steering the country, when it did not have electricity, fuel, medicines and fertiliser.

“The President put the country on the right track following an unprecedented economic crisis,” Lanza added.

He said that the country cannot go forward without increasing the revenue sources. “Those who are not in power can make any pledges. Average citizens know the true situation of the country. People cannot be deceived by giving false promises,” he said.
