The person who changed the chassis number and colour of the motorcycle that the shooter came to kill the owner of a meat shop in front of the Ratmalana Railway Station was arrested by the Mt.Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit.
After questioning the 32-year-old suspect, who is a resident of Angoda, the emission certificate of the motorcycle and the equipment used to change the engine number and chassis number were found.
The meat shop owner was shot dead on August 21. The shooter and another person came on a motorcycle and shot the businessman and fled leaving the motorcycle in a canal in Anguruwatota area. The motorcycle was found by the Police on August 22. It had been sent to the Government Analyst. The taster has said that the colour, engine number and chassis number of the motorcycle have been changed.
During an inspection conducted by the Police officers who went to the company that imports and distributes this type of motorcycle in Sri Lanka, they have been able to find information on more than 11,000 motorcycles distributed by the company. About 6,000 motorcycles were registered, so some statistical investigation has been done regarding engine numbers and chassis numbers of those motorcycles. Through this, the Police have identified a suspicious motorcycle and went to Angoda area to find its registered owner. That person had sold the motorcycle to someone in Dematagoda at that time. Police, who have also found that person, have revealed that the motorcycle was sold to a person in Katubedda when they interrogated him. It has also been revealed that the colour and chassis and engine numbers of this motorcycle has been changed by that person. It has also been revealed that the motorcycle was bought from the Dematagoda person hiding the real identity. Investigations have revealed that the colour and engine and chassis numbers of this motorcycle were changed by the instructions of the drug underworld leader Alto Dharme from Dubai and Gonakovile Kudu Anju, who is in French custody, gave instructions to kill this businessman. Investigations have revealed that Kudu Anju, who is in French prison, has been given facilities to use telephones and that he is using those telephone facilities to make calls to his minions in this country.
A senior Police officer stated that the Police have received the information about the shooter who shot the businessman and many other people involved in the incident.
