Religious ceremonies held at Ruwanweli Maha Seya

A series of special religious programmes were held under the patronage of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana at Anuradhapura Ruwanweli Maha Seya to coincide with the 66th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).

In order to bless the country, the people and the institution, a Kapruka Pooja was performed at the Ruwanweli Seya, and over 750 ‘Atapirikara’ from all the SLTB depots in the island were offered to the Ruwanweli Maha Seya.

The religious observances were conducted under the patronage of Chief Incumbent of Ruwanweli Maha Seya Ven. Dr. Ethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thera and with the participation of Ven. Wettewe Sumana Thera.

On a request made by Ven. Dr. Ethalawetunuwewe Gnanathilaka Thera, a new SLTB bus was deployed for the convenience of pilgrims from Anuradhapura Railway Station to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhiya, Lowa Mahapaya, Ruwanweli Maha Seya, Jethavanaramaya, Abhayagiriya, Lankaramaya, Thuparamaya and Mirisawatiya.

State Minister of Investment Promotion Dilum Amunugama, former Ministers, Members of Parliament Gamini Lokuge and S. M. Chandrasena Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Highways, Ranjith Rubasinghe and SLTB Chairman Lalith de Alwis were also present.

Religious ceremonies were held at Anuradhapura Ruwanweli Maha Seya in connection with the SLTB’s 66th anniversary.
