Police intervened yesterday to remove the people staying in the Galle Face protest area and the tents that have not been removed so far.
The Police alerted the protesters staying there to remove the tents and leave the Galle Face area within 15 minutes. Accordingly, steps have been taken to remove those tents.
The Police and Urban Development Authority officials were also present at the time of the evacuation.
The police and Special Task Force had been called to the Galle Face area and security had been tightened.
Although they have left the Galle Face area, the protesters had recently declared that the struggle will continue until the departure of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and that the struggle will not stop until their goals are achieved.
