Retired Navy Officer arrested for vehicle fraud

A senior Naval officer who is the owner of a private security agency was arrested by the Central Anti-Corruption Squad in Walana for using a car with a fake number.

The Central Anti-Corruption Squad stated that this retired Navy officer was arrested at the security agency in Mount Lavinia. A team of officers of the unit arrested a retired Navy officer with a car four months ago car for running with a fake number plate and he had told the police that the car belonged to the owner of a security agency in Mount Lavinia.

When the Police started the investigation, the owner of the security agency was in hiding. According to the documents of the car, the owner of the car is the owner of the private security firm and the registration information at the Motor Traffic Department (RMV) revealed that the real owner of the car is a person from Kandy.

The investigation has also revealed that the vehicle registered in the Motor Traffic Department has the same number in Kandy. Accordingly, when checking the chassis number and engine number, it has been found that the vehicle related to the chassis number belongs to person from Kottawa.

Accordingly, the Central Anti-Corruption Force suspected that this car had been brought into Sri Lanka illegally.
