Royal Tuskers to make debut at Dubai Sevens

The Old Royalists in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will create history as the first school alumni team to represent Sri Lanka at the annual Emirates Dubai Sevens Rugby Tournament, which will be played from December 1 to 3 at the iconic Sevens Stadium in Dubai, UAE.

The Old Royalists will participate in the Men’s Gulf Open League event under Royal Tuskers along with 16 other ‘B’ Division rugby teams, conducted during the UAE National Day weekend.

With over 50 years of tradition, the Emirates Dubai Sevens Tournament is the biggest sporting event in the region, which will feature its biggest line-up to date with a host of world-class international players set to make their appearance.

The Old Royalists in the UAE was established in 1999 and since then they have been regularly participating in all leading seven-a-side domestic tournaments and tag rugby competitions in the Middle East. The Royal Tuskers Team will be led by Dayan Diddeniya and Royal’s 2012 Skipper and former Kandy SC player Arshad Jamaldeen is the Vice-Captain with Uthpala Ranatunga as the Team Manager.

Meanwhile, the IMM Consultancy in Dubai will be the principal sponsor of the Royal Tuskers Team for the Emirates Dubai Sevens Rugby Tournament.
