A fully equipped drug store together with a staff official housing complex will be established at the Chavakachcheri Base Hospital under a Rs. 336 million project, scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow (19) morning under the patronage of Minister of Health Nalinda Jayatissa.
According to the Health Ministry, the dual initiative, launched under new government programmes to deliver more qualitative and efficient health services to the Northern Province, will be carried out under the Provincial Council objective.
Of the total investment, Rs. 282.52 million has been allocated for the drug store and housing complex, with construction expected to be completed by August 2027.
Simultaneously, a project to improve the hospital’s staircase and infrastructure facilities will commence at a cost of Rs. 53 million, funded through Northern Provincial Council allocations, and scheduled for completion by May 2027.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Northern Province Governor Nagalingam Vedanayagam, political representatives of the area, the Provincial Chief Secretary, officials, and hospital staff. (Newswire)
