Dr. M.M. Mohamed Rushanudeen was elected Executive Chairman (Chairperson of the Executive Committee) and a member of Board of Directors (National Executive Committee) of the United Nations Association of Sri Lanka (UNASL) for 2024/2025.
The organisation, affiliated to with the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), has been recognized by the Foreign Ministry and UN Sri Lanka.
Rushanudeen is the youngest lifetime patron and member of UNASL, who has held a number of key positions in the association for over 40 years.
Rushanudeen took his oaths before new President elect M.M. Zawahir at the 74th AGM held last Sunday at the UNASL National Secretariat in Panadura.
He became the executive committee member of the association in 1992 and held a number of positions including Vice Chairman and Senior Vice Chairman before becoming Executive Chairman, the post he held since 2018.
He has represented Sri Lanka in a number of international forums and has a pivotal role in organizing many social welfare initiatives.
