Sachintha a prolific run getter for Dharmaraja

Eighteen year old Sachintha Dissanayake, the Cricket Captain of Dharmaraja College 1st XI Cricket team for the current season is studying in the G.C.E.(A/L) class in the Bio Stream.

He is coming from an outstanding Family of Cricketers of Dharmaraja and his father, Ruwan Dissanayake represented the School as an all-rounder from 1989 to 1991, his elder brother Kavishka played for the school as a dashing top order batsman from 2013 to 2015 and then for the Peradeniya University in the Engineering Faculty.

Sachintha started his cricket career in the Under 13 cricket team in the year 2012 and his first coaches were Gamini Debahapuwa and Ananda Wijesekera. In 2014 as a member of the 13 ‘A’ Cricket team he could not perform well but in 2015 in the 13 A team as a wicket keeper batsman he scored two fifties each against Kingswood College,and St.Silvesters’ Kandy.

In the year 2016 became the Captain of the Cricket team and scored 428 runs with five fifties and 25 victims behind the stumps against Wickremasheela MV Giriulla 74, Trinity 65, Sri Sumangala 86, St.Annes’ Kurunegala 61 ,Polonnaruwa Royal 50 and awarded college blues for most runs. In 2017 in the Under 15 ‘A’ Scored 228 runs with three fifties and a hundred against Vidyartha College (103) and claimed 18 victims behind the stumps as the wicket keeper. In 2018 played in the under 15 Cricket team as the Captain and scored over 330 runs with a Century against Maliyadewa Model School and two fifties against Kingswood 75 and against Sandalanka MMV 89.

He was selected to the Under 15 District Tournament organized by the Central Province Cricket Association and as the Captain of the Champion Cricket team. He scored 191 in four matches – eight victims behind the stumps and he was adjudged the player of the Cricket tournament in two games and selected to the Provincial team.

In 2021 he was appointed as the Cricket Captain of the 1st XI cricket team and he is thankful to his coaches as well as his family members for the support encouragement and guidance given to him.
