Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said in Parliament yesterday that according to the Speaker’s verdict on domestic debt optimisation (DDO), any verdict passed in Parliament cannot be challenged in Court and should also be the verdict in Courts and this is a dangerous assumption to make.
He said this while adding to the comments made in Parliament yesterday morning.
“Because according to the Constitution, the main pillars of the country are the executive power, Parliament and the Judiciary. They are the pillars of independence.
One cannot exercise more authority than the other. This is the wrong way. So this government will definitely change in another year or one and a half.
Therefore, we request you not to act in this way,” he said.
