Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday urged the government to clarify and educate the public on the true situation with regard to the news report published in the Dinamina newspaper which reported that the seven key places in Colombo would come under an Islamic terrorist attack.
The Opposition Leader said that this news report stated that terrorists who are in the Prison currently have been planning this.
As this is a serious matter, he urged for further investigations regarding the truth and falsity of this incident, stressing that terrorism should not be allowed to rise again as a country that has been battered by thirty years of war.
He also urged the government to learn from the past and look into this risk with an immediate effect. Opposition Leader also requested the government to take the maximum steps possible within the laws of the country to combat terrorism.
“According to this report, there is the fact that this plan has been created by the IS terrorists who are in prison at the time of hearing a case in the court of Colombo by Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasinghe. This is a very serious matter. The information about the truth and falsity here should be found out and disclosed to the country and also inform all of us in Parliament about this.
