The “Satarawa Deepani” felicitation ceremony organized by Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana will be held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) on March 16 at 6pm. Tributes will be paid to the best movie artists and scholarships will be awarded to students who are currently pursuing the GCE (A/L) Technology stream this year.
Arrangements have been made to offer a scholarship worth Rs.2,000 per month for 250 students selected from all the districts who are currently studying the technology stream for two years under the “Pragna Bandhu” scholarship programme, a concept introduced by Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana.
Tributes will also be paid to a group of artistes who had contributed to the artwork created by Dr.Bandula Gunawardhana. Veteran artistes such as Dharmasiri Bandaranayake, Parakrama Niriella and Cyril Wickramage were awarded by the President in recognition of their contributions.
Veteran artistes Malani Fonseka, Swarna Mallawarachchi, Anoja Weerasinghe and Ravindra Randeniya will be awarded in recognition of their contribution. Religious leaders, political leaders, high government officials, artistes, scholars, agriculturalists and other intellectuals have been invited for this event.
