The prices of some essential consumer goods sold by Lanka Sathosa have been reduced.
Lanka Sathosa, the only state owned supermarket chain in the country, has reduced prices of eight essential food items effective from August 2 to provide relief to the consumers on the directives by the Trade, Commerce and Food Security Ministry.
These price reduced food items can be purchased by the consumers from any of the Sathosa outlets distributed countrywide.
Prices of Potatoes (imported from China), White cowpea Indian Big Onions, Red cowpea, Keeri Samba, Brown Sugar, Red Lentils and White Sugar have been reduced by Lanka Sathosa.
Accordingly, 1 kg of Potatoes imported from China (bulk) which was sold at Rs.275 has been brought down to Rs.240 with a saving of Rs.35. The new price of a kilo of White cowpea has been reduced to Rs. 998 from its previous price of Rs.1,020 providing a saving of Rs.22.
Indian Big Onions 1 kg (bulk) is now sold at Rs.265 with a price reduction of Rs.20 from its previous price of Rs.285. Price of Red cowpea (bulk) 1 Kg has been reduced by Rs.10 from its previous price of Rs.950 and is now sold at Rs.940.
The new price of 1 Kg of Keeri Samba (bulk) is Rs.254 reduced from its previous price of Rs. 260 with a saving of Rs.6. Brown Sugar (bulk) 1 Kg which was sold at Rs.375 has been reduced by Rs.5 and now sold at Rs.370.
Price of Red Lentil 1 Kg (bulk) has been reduced to Rs.285 from its previous price of Rs.290 with a saving of Rs.5. A kilo of White Sugar (bulk) which was sold at Rs. 258 has been reduced to Rs. 254 providing a saving of Rs.4.
