On the occasion of the commencement of the Saturday Seethawaka Odyssey tourist train journey, the Deputy Chief Sanghanayaka of Southern Sri Lanka, Colombo Sri Sambuddhaloka Viharadhipathi, former Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University, Senior Professor Ven.Ittademaliye Indasara Nayaka Thera, who performed religious rites stated in his anushasana. “We see this train service, which will be started to visit the Seethawaka area, as a great investment for the growth of tourism in Sri Lanka. It is also a great opportunity to experience the diversity and beauty of our country’s environment within one day.
“We are very happy that many high-ranking foreign representatives including the Chinese Ambassador and the Vietnamese Ambassador are participating in the trip. By gaining experience about this beautiful environment which is very close to Colombo and informing the people of your countries about it, it will undoubtedly give a valuable hand to boost the tourism business of our country. I see the start of this train journey as an opportunity to experience Sri Lanka as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the world.
With this train journey, which will be started according to the concept of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana, I see it as not only an opportunity for a large number of people in this country to make their livelihood, but also an opportunity for local tourists to have an enjoyable experience.
