The Supreme Court stated yesterday (28) that it will soon inform the Speaker of its decision on the constitutionality of the Inland Revenue Amendment Bill.
The Supreme Court has concluded the deliberations of the petitions filed challenging the Inland Revenue Amendment Draft Bill, which was presented to the Parliament by the Government.
Deputy Solicitor General Nirmalan Wigneswaran who presented facts on behalf of the Attorney General, stated that domestic debt restructuring is part of the state policy and the submission of this Inland Revenue Amendment Bill is an extension of it. The Deputy Solicitor General submitted that the Bill does not violate fundamental rights.
After considering the facts, the Supreme Court bench decided to inform the Speaker about the decision regarding the petitions.
