The Nanu Oya Police said that Nanu Oya Tamil College Principal Kathirvelu Subramaniyam (52) was killed after being hit by the Badulla – Colombo train between the Radella and Great Weston stations in Nanu Oya. The Principal was walking along the railway track to his home after participating in a school cleaning programme prior to the opening of the School on Monday.
After the accident, the train driver continued to proceed without noticing the accident and a security officer of the train saw the incident and informed the Nanu Oya station about it.
Then the Nanu Oya Police and railway station officials brought the Principal’s body to the Nanu Oya station. Police are investigating the incident.
