Under the CSR programme of Power Net Private Company exercise books and school equipment were donated to the students studying at Yatalamatta Maha Vidyalaya, Galle at the college premises under the guidance of Power Net Chairman Wimal Silva recently.
According to the request made by the principal and the academic staff of the college, personal financial allocations of Silva were utilised for this donation. Accordingly, 144 students studying in all grades were handed over exercise books and educational equipment sets. Besides six students, who passed the Grade Five Scholarship Examination were also given commemorative medals.
Principal P.G. Saman Jayalal addressing the gathering said that the school system is grateful for the contribution made by Silva to implement this programme in order to encourage the education of the children and thereby attract the community to the school.
A colourful concert consisting of dancing and singing by the children was also held. Evaluation the generosity of Silva and his family, the college presented him with a commemorative plaque.
