Scoring 130 runs against Joes was memorable, says Nishitha Abilash

St.Sebastian’s opening batsman cum vice captain Nishitha Abilash in action.

Nishitha Abilash played and Vice captained first XI school cricket team of his alma mater St.Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa as an opening batsman in the Inter-School tournaments.

Speaking exclusively to Daily News, Abilash said “My father is the one who influenced me from a young age and that’s the main reason why I entered the world of sport”.

“My parents have always been my biggest supporters, they have always supported me since day one and if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be where I am today, also special thanks to my coaches Rashan Peiris and Imal Boteju who trained me and pushed me to my limits and never gave up on me; so I’m always grateful to all of them”.

“Ever since I was a little kid, I always enjoyed watching cricket, and my father is the main reason why I chose the game of cricket”. “Being a cricketer is not hard, if you love the game and my favourite leisure time activities are watching movies”. “My favourite cricketer is Rashan Peiris”.

“Top most priorities in my life are my family, and cricket and I don’t compare myself with any one, I only focus on myself and I’m doing what I believe in”.

“Thus far my most unforgettable incident was getting 130 runs against St. Joseph’s Collage Maradana and It was a dream come true for me, hence I cherish that moment very much”.

“My greatest accomplishment in life was winning the Under 17 inter-school cricket championship in 2016”.

“I scored a half century in the under 15 semi final and the opponent coach complimented me by saying “ well played son “ so that is the best compliment that I have received thus far”.

“The pandemic taught me to be patient in life, never take it easy and always help each other”.

“I’m not yet happy with my achievements so far, because I have more to achieve and I hope to push myself further in the future”.

“The most embarrassing moment on the cricket field is when I got out for a zero in the big match in the very first ball I faced”. In life I like to describe myself as an energetic and ambitious person”. When I grow up, I want to play for Sri Lanka national team as a professional cricketer”.

“I want to be remembered as the highest run getter in T20 internationals and that’s the kind of legacy I would like to be remembered for” concluded Nishitha Abilash.
