Mt. Lavinia Additional Magistrate Sanjaya Wijesinghe yesterday (31) ordered that former Senior Deputy Inspector
General (SDIG) Ravi Seneviratne, who was arrested and remanded for causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol, be released on bail.
Considering a motion filed by the President’s Counsel Nalinda Indatissa, the Magistrate ordered the release of Ravi Seneviratne on a personal surety of Rs.100,000 and a cash bail of Rs.2,500 considering the Wellawatta Police informing the court that the investigation into the incident had been completed.
Suspect Ravi Seneviratne was arrested for damaging a car and a bus parked in front of the Mirage Hotel on Marine Drive.The former Senior Deputy Inspector General was driving from Bambalapitiya towards Dehiwala and he was found drunk after the test for alcohol.
