Gunawardena, who was a veteran newspaper journalist and creative writer, passed away due to a sudden illness in the Boralasgamuwa area while he was on his way to his office.
He was 57 years old at the time of his death. A former student of Ananda College, Colombo he was a graduate of the Colombo University.
King Barnet, Atamassa and Advertising World are some memorable articles he wrote to several newspapers
including the Divaina. He was also Deputy General Manager of the Development Lotteries Board and has held high positions in several institutions. The remains lie at his residence at Rathmaldeniya Road, Moraketiya in Pannipitiya and burial will take place tomorrow (30) at the Arrawwala cemetery at 5 p.m.
