Super Fighters Chess Tournament-2022 conducted by the Super Fighters Chess Club Kalutara was held recently at Miriswatta National school Dodamgoda, Kalutara.
A. A.H. M. B. Senaratne won the Open Event with a cash award of Rupees ten thousand by scoring a total of 4.5 points out of possible 5 games. He drew only with Kosala Sandeepa in 5th round. Kosala Sandeepa had 2 draws with Senaratne and Abhilash Thavendran but Kosala won other three games Abhilash had to be satisfied with the second place with 4.5 points and received Rupees six thousand five hundred. Dinod Abeyratne had to be satisfied with the third place with 4.0 points and won six thousand five hundred rupees cash prize .Meanwhile Piyumi Uthpala emerged the womens Champion of open event with 3 points out of 5 games and won rupees three thousand.
A.P. Chenitha Sihas won the under 7 open category and Janali won second place and Thasheli Kariyapperuma won third place.The tournament’s under 9 category was won by Chanuth Nandil Jayakody and Mithum Dinsitha and Shivanthi Apsara had to be satisfied with second and third places respectively. Under 11 champion is Ranul Kannangara and Dihein Kariyapperuma won second place and Deneth Pabasara won the third place Meanwhile Mayon Dinuth Fernando emerged under 13 champion and Sathini Disathna and Diyon Mindula Fernando won second and third places respectively
The chief guest was Former Assistant Secretary of the Sri Lanka Chess federation and Advisor of Kalutara district Chess Association Sumal Horawalawithana, President of the Kalutara District Chess Association Dr. Gamini Karunaratne, Director of Super Fighter Chess Club Madushan Sameera Dissanayake, and Vice President of Sri Lanka Chess federation and secretary of the Kalutara district Chess Association Dayal Sriwardene was guest of honour and distributed the prizes to the winners. based on this Super Fighter of the year and the best player of the year award were received by Kosala Sandeepa.The best woman player of the year award was given to
Ginuri Kannangara and the up and coming player of the year award was bagged by Chamod Chiranda Perera.
The special awards were received by Dinod Uthsanda, Bimansa Jayandi, Piyumi Uthpala , Anujana Hasandi, Sathini Disathna, Ranul Kannangara and Chanuth Nandil. a large number of players also graced the award ceremony.
