Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, left the country early this morning (16) for Singapore, departing from Katunayake Airport at 1.10 am.
It is reported that she was accompanied by Anne de Livera, sister‑in‑law of Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s son, Rohitha Rajapaksa.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa had been admitted to a private hospital in Colombo yesterday (15) due to illness, and was taken directly from the hospital to the airport for her departure.
Reports indicate that at the time of boarding, police notified her to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) on September 24.
The FCID has stated that Rajapaksa has gone abroad despite being summoned to appear before the Division later this month. (Newswire)
