Two persons had come on a motorcycle and shot at a bus parked opposite a vehicle yard at Mabulgoda, Homagama on Saturday night and fled.
Police have identified that this shooting had been carried out by underworld criminal named Jerome.
A top police official said that the underworld criminal is now in hiding. During investigations it has been revealed that an individual at the vehicle yard was strongly addicted to the drug Ice. According to the police, the owner of the vehicle yard had warned this person recently, not to use drugs inside the premises. Police official said that a suspicion has arisen that there is a connection between that warning and this shooting.
This police officer said that investigations have revealed that the person at the vehicle yard is a close associate of Jerome. He said further that it appears that the shooting had been carried out to intimidate him.
Police said that the shooting carried out using a T-56 firearm had caused damage to the bus.
