A shop owner who was in possession of 100 foreign cigarettes was arrested by officers of the Angaratenna Special Task Force camp, on Tuesday (14) in Badulla town.
It is suspected that these cigarettes had been brought to Sri Lanka illegally, avoiding payment of duty.
The 62-year-old suspect resides in Station Road, Badulla.
Police said that the raid was conducted on a tip-off.
Badulla Police have taken steps to produce the suspect and the contraband in Court.
