A brother of Samagi Jana Balawegaya Kandy District MP M. H. A. Haleem has been arrested by Police in connection with an incident in which he allegedly defrauded several people by promising jobs in the UAE and making fake UAE visas.
The police said that the suspect was arrested while investigating three complaints of defrauding money from individuals after promising jobs in Dubai.
Police investigation has revealed that the suspect had obtained Rs. 250,000, Rs.100,000 and Rs.50,000 respectively from three individuals.
After receiving the money, the suspect had issued fake visas to the concerned persons.
When the Fraud Investigation Division of the Kandy Headquarters Police referred the visas to the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates here it had been confirmed that they are fake visas.
The suspect named Mohammed Hashin Aleem Mohammed Razik (58) has been remanded until the June 21 by the Kandy Magistrate’s Courts.
Police are investigating the matter further.
