Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva said the SJB cannot talk about a corruption free government as it has many politicians who are accused of large scale corruption and malpractices.
He said that the candidates at the upcoming Presidential Election cannot claim to form a government without corruption because corrupt politicians are aligned with them.
“They may switch parties, but they remain the same corrupt individuals” he added. By forming governments, people have expected good governance, a better life, and a well-governed country for 76 years. But now, they are left with a collapsed and corrupted country filled with crimes that is not suitable for living, said speaking at a National People’s Power (NPP) public rally in Matugama recently, he further stated,
“This Presidential Election is especially significant because governance, which certain families have long controlled, will now be transitioned to the public with Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s victory. Ranil Wickremesinghe is not in favour of this election. He tried to avoid it, but his efforts were futile. Nonetheless, the public is eagerly anticipating this election.”
“Now, people can easily make a decision. While these corrupt individuals change parties, the citizens of the country have chosen to unite with NPP and reject corrupt politicians.”
