SJB to uplift eduction system – Sajith

Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sajith Premadasa yesterday said that divisions within the education system should end for the sake of the country’s future well-being.

He said that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya aims to uplift the quality standards of 10,150 Government schools islandwide and develop them on par with international level.

Premadasa said that in order to emerge as a country, a knowledge-centered economy should be created and for that there should be no division within the education system.“English language education should be given to everyone,” he stressed.

He was speaking at the 26th Sakwala programme held at Ranminithenna Primary school in Hambantota yesterday. The Opposition Leader said that as long as we are isolated from other countries in the world, we look like heroes, but if the country is opened to the world, we will be in a very low position.

“At a time when the country’s schools are unable to even pay the electricity bill, while the leaders of the country are talking about digital revolution from inside the rooms of the capital,” he said.

Premadasa added that there are no IT teachers at village schools and some teachers are teaching IT in two schools.
