Under a future Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) Government, a programme will be initiated to realistically minimise or completely eliminate the use of tobacco, drugs and alcohol, the Opposition and SJB Leader Sajith Premadasa said. Premadasa was speaking at the 111th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Temperance Movement at the YMBA auditorium, Borella on Saturday.
The Opposition Leader also emphasized that he is proud of the fact that he has never recommended people for liquor licences.
Premadasa went on to say that the drug menace has even invaded the school system and in such a situation direct decisions must be taken. “We can no longer remain dormant looking at this destruction and tough decisions must be taken for the sake of the future of children,” he added.
