Opposition Leader and Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS) Sajith Premadasa stated that Presidential Candidates Ranil Wickremesinghe and Anura Kumara Dissanayake are engaging in a secret political alliance, but neither of them has the desire to uplift the country.
Premadasa said that one of them does not understand the pulse of the people and the aspirations, sorrows, and pains of the 22 million citizens. The other individual is focused on destruction and mass extermination.
He further stated that the Rajapaksas had already destroyed the country, creating chaos and that those inclined towards violence cannot rebuild the nation.
He expressed concern that if Wickremesinghe and Dissanayake come to power, they will not be able to achieve anything. He emphasised that the common goal of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the Samagi Jana Sandhanaya (SJS) is to rescue the country from an abyss to prosperity and development for all citizens.
Speaking at a rally in Homagama on Friday (6), Premadasa said that the dividing line in this election is clear, and people have understood the political alliance between Ranil Wickremesinghe and Anura Kumara Dissanayake. He asserted that their primary goal is to defeat Sajith Premadasa, but his and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s common objective is to uplift the fallen nation and ensure a prosperous future for the people.
The Opposition Leader stated, “While the country has benefitted from state power and tax funds over its 76-year history, as an opposition, the SJB has allocated nearly a billion rupees for health and education over the past four years. The SJB is capable of rescuing the people from their suffering and combating corruption, fraud, and theft.”
Premadasa highlighted that every transaction will be made transparent through a digital platform accessible to all, ensuring the right to information on every state expenditure. He assured that no actions will be taken outside the tender process and that tenders will not be awarded based on personal relationships or favoritism by the President, Prime Minister, or Ministers. He pledged to create a golden era free from corruption.
In these challenging times, when the lives of the people are severely affected, Premadasa promised a transparent and accountable governance system that will be responsible to the people, aiming to rebuild the country through a people-centred administration.
