SLFP LG Councillor arrested for May 9 incidents

A Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Municipal Councillor who was found to have been involved in six riotous incidents on May 9 in Piliyandala was arrested by Piliyandala Police.

A police official said that the councillr was arrested after he came to the police station following an order.

The municipal councillor allegedly attacked and set fire to Kesbewa Mayor Laxman Perera’s house along with another group, damaged and set fire to his cousin’s house, damaged and set fire to the house of MP Gamini Lokuge’s brother Buddhadasa Lokuge, the arson attack on Kesbewa Municipal Councillor Shirley Jaelaga.

The police are investigating.
