Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) has launched a new type of pet insurance scheme to coincide with World Animal Day next Wednesday.
This insurance cover is called “Petsurance” and the focus will be on pet dogs in the initial phase, Business Development and Marketing Deputy General Manager Namali Silva said.
She said that if this project becomes successful, the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation hopes to extend it to other animals as well.
This insurance cover for pets also provides cover for sudden illness as well as accidents.
