Slimline and Omegaline lift Novices VB titles

MAS Slimline SC and Omegaline SC clinched the Men’s and Women’s Novices title respectively at the 2022 Mercantile Volleyball Championships held at the National Youth Services Centre (NYSC) Indoor Stadium in Maharagama. In the Men’s final, MAS Slimline defeated Best Pacific Textile SC in a marathon five-setter 28-26, 17-25, 16-25, 26-24, 10-5 to clinch their maiden Novices volleyball title at national level.

In the Women’s Novices final, Omegaline SC outplayed Maliban Group SC in straight sets 25-19, 25-19, 25-13. Meanwhile, Linea Aqua SC took the Men’s third place while Hirdaramani SC secured the Women’s third place of this tournament.

In addition, E. M. K. N. Sandaruwan of Slimline SC and Chamari Monika of Omegaline SC were named Best Player in the Men’s and Women’s Tournament respectively.

Men’s Best Setter: Maleesha Jayawardana (Slimline SC). Best Attacker: H. M. Rilamdeen (Best Pacific). Women’s Best Setter: Vinodi Kaushalya (Omegaline SC). Best Attacker: Praboda Tillakarathna (Omegaline SC).
