Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam has been summoned to appear before the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) over a statement he made concerning the Inspector General of Police.
Kariyawasam is expected to appear before the CCIB at 10.30 a.m. on Monday (10), in accordance with the notice issued to him.
Meanwhile, Kariyawasam said his remarks concerning the IGP had been misinterpreted.
The investigation follows concerns raised over remarks made by Kariyawasam regarding an alleged threat to the IGP, which authorities have described as serious and warranting further investigation. (Newswire)
