SLPP support crucial at a next election – MR

The team of political leaders of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) was always with the working community of the country whenever the party was and was not in power, the Leader of SLPP and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.

He said some political parties think of the labour community of the country only when it is May Day while some other parties have been using the labour community as henchmen for their struggles on the streets.

The former President made these remarks addressing the May Day Rally of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna held at the Campbell Park in Borella yesterday.

Speaking further, the former President said it is the SLPP which has the support and the power of the majority portion of the labour force of the country.
