It is noteworthy that a substantial number of members from the Sri Lanka Public Transport Workers Union, led by union leaders including Nurajith Singh, came together for this occasion. Speaking at the event, the minister remarked, “The Sri Lanka Transport Board carries out one of the greatest national responsibilities by managing public transport in our country, serving everyone from school students.
Without their services, children would be unable to attend school, transportation would falter on challenging roads, and workers would struggle to return home at night. Therefore, they are an integral part of the working populace of this country. Their support is crucial for the success of the May Day rally. We are honoured by their commitment.”
Numerous attendees, including Ceylon Transport Board Chairman Lalith de Alwis were present.
