Sri Lanka Social Security Board says the public can now register for social security pension schemes through mobile phones from home under a newly expanded digital service platform.
The Board said the digitalization initiative aims to provide more efficient and convenient access to social security services through www.socialsecurity.lk.
It said a range of pension and social security schemes with broader public benefits had also been introduced, allowing easier access for citizens across the country.
According to the Board, the retirement plans have been designed to provide financial protection not only for the retiree but also for the entire family.
The benefits include a lifetime monthly pension, pension support for spouses, financial assistance in the event of unexpected death or disability, and grants for children’s education and other financial needs.
The Sri Lanka Social Security Board was established under Act No. 17 of 1996 and later amended by Act No. 33 of 1999 to provide pensions and social security benefits for individuals not entitled to a government pension. (Newswire)
