The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday arrested a soldier who allegedly stole a T56 firearm and 30 bullets
from the army camp of the 58 Brigade in Puttalam. The theft had occurred on the night of February 9. The stolen firearm was one among 21 firearms issued for the guards of the camp.A police complaint had been lodged on February 13 as the firearm was missing. The IGP had forwarded the complaint to the CID.The arrested soldier (32) is a resident of Lolgoda, Mahapalgegoda. He is attached to the 20th Sinha Regiment in Dehiattakandiya, Henanigala.
