SP new Governor assumes duties

M.K. Bandula Harischandra, a Senior Administrative Officer assumed official duties at the Southern Province Governor’s Secretariat yesterday (27).

He had taken his oath as governor before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake last Wednesday (25) at the Presidential Secretariat Colombo.

Assumption of duties was solemnized in a simple atmosphere with no ceremonial formalities.

Bandula Harischandra , is an alumni of Horana Sri Palee College, a post graduate of Kelaniya University. He was initially appointed as Ampara Assistant District Commissioner of Elections and subsequently he served as the Galle Assistant District Commissioner of Elections. Thereafter he served as Galle Four Gravets Divisional Secretary and Galle Additional District Secretary. He has also worked as the Acting District Secretary of Galle.

Bandula Harischandra was later appointed as Rathnapura District Secretary and Hambantota District Secretary before he was appointed as the Secretary of Ministry of Social Empowerment and Social Welfare. Eventually, he served as the Secretary of Department of Wild Life Conservation and Additional Controller General of Emigration and Immigration Department. Moreover, he was an acclaimed writer and the author of a number of literary works.
