Speaker to be notified of Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill

The Supreme Court yesterday stated that the constitutionality of the Inland Revenue (Amendment) Bill will be apprised to the Speaker.

The Supreme Court made this announcement after the concluding the examination of eight petitions challenging the the Bill and two intervenient petitions in support of it filed in the apex courtThese petitions were taken up before a Bench of Supreme Court judges comprising Justice Buwaneka Aluvihare Justice Murdu Fernando and Justice Janak de Silva. These petitions were filed by the High Court Judges’ Association and the Sri Lanka Judicial Officers’ Association.
