Special meeting between Chinese Envoy and Civil Society, Batticaloa

During bi-literal talks between the Chinese Ambassador Qi Zhenhong  and the President of the Batticaloa Civil Society S. Mangaraja the latter placed the following issues connected with Fisheries, Agriculture, Tourism, Education, Health, Livestock farming, Vocational Training, Uplifting the livelihood of female headed families and  livelihood of war affected families before the Ambassador. This talk took place at Uga Bay Hotel in Pasikuda on Wednesday (20).

In reply the Ambassador said that, so far China has granted 1.5 Billion Rupees, during the COVID-19 Sri Lanka was prioritised and granted vaccines, scholarships have been granted to undergraduates of the Eastern University, during the economic crisis dry provisions was supplied in the Eastern Province and arrangements have been made for the provisions of school uniform to schoolchildren through the island.

Now we have granted 12 Million Rupees to the Governor of the Eastern province and 8 million Rupees to the Governor of the Eastern Province.

All these projects have been undertaken from long ago under the Sri Lanka-China Friendship Association.
