Sports Minister files motion to lift Court of Appeal Stay Order

Minister of Sports Roshan Ranasinghe has filed a motion requesting the lifting of the Stay Order issued by the Court of Appeal (CoA), preventing the functioning of the Interim Committee appointed by him for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), and the implementation of the relevant gazette notification in this regard.

The Minister made this request from the CoA while submitting objections to the petition which sought an order preventing the implementation of the Minister’s gazette notification.

On November 7, the CoA issued a 14-day Stay Order preventing the operation of the 7-member Interim Committee appointed for the SLC and the relevant gazette notification issued by the Sports Minister, after considering a writ petition filed by SLC Chairman Shammi Silva.
