Sri Lanka and Kenya are exploring deeper cooperation in the tea industry following a meeting between the Acting High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Kenya, Ruvini De Silva, and senior officials of the Kenya Tea Growers Association (KTGA) at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Nairobi.
The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in the tea sector, a key area of mutual economic interest for both countries. The Acting High Commissioner briefed the KTGA delegation on Sri Lanka Expo 2027, scheduled to take place in Colombo from 14-17 January 2027, and highlighted opportunities for Kenyan businesses to engage with Sri Lankan companies and explore partnerships.
She also announced upcoming Sri Lanka Expo 2027 Business Briefing Sessions in Kenya, to be held in Nairobi on 25 September 2026 and Mombasa on 2 October 2026, aimed at facilitating direct interaction between Sri Lankan and Kenyan businesses, identifying areas of commercial interest, and promoting business‑to‑business linkages.
The KTGA delegation expressed strong interest in participating in the Expo and emphasized the importance of sharing expertise, strengthening industry‑to‑industry contacts, and identifying new areas for cooperation in the tea sector.
