Sri Lanka and Australia have agreed to strengthen cooperation across several key areas, including trade, defence, education and maritime affairs, following high-level talks held in Colombo.
According to the Sri Lankan Foreign Ministry, the Sixth Round of the Senior Officials Talks and the Fourth Round of the Strategic Maritime Dialogue between the two countries were successfully concluded in Colombo on September 21.
The discussions were co-chaired by Sarah Storey, First Assistant Secretary of South and Central Asia at Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and M.R.K. Lenagala, Additional Secretary at Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.
During the meetings, the two sides explored new avenues for collaboration in bilateral political affairs, agriculture, trade, defence and education.
Sri Lanka and Australia also agreed to further strengthen cooperation on regional, multilateral and maritime affairs. (Newswire)
