Sri Lanka and China are preparing to mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 75th anniversary of the Rubber-Rice Pact in 2027, following discussions between the two countries’ representatives.
Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath met Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang on Oct. 10 to discuss bilateral cooperation and preparations for the two anniversaries.
The Rubber-Rice Pact, signed in 1952, laid an important foundation for economic cooperation between the two countries, while diplomatic relations were established in 1957. (Newswire)
